Therapy for Trauma

Trauma is a reaction to a disturbing, stressful, harmful, or distressing experience. Trauma can be a very personal reaction – two people can go through the same experience and react very differently, with one person seemingly only affected for a short time while the other person deals with ongoing fear, horror, nightmares, and issues with avoidance.

Pre-surgical Bariatric Evaluation

For most individuals, the evaluation is a process that leads to the development or suggestion of interventions, such as participating in a support group, that are meant to enhance the response to bariatric surgery. In a small number of cases, the evaluation leads to the diagnosis of an acute psychological illness, such as depression.

Adult and Child ADHD Assessment

Because many of the symptoms of ADHD are often seen in other disorders, such as depression, anxiety, memory, and learning disorders, it is important to have a thorough psychological evaluation to determine what psychological processes are underlying the symptoms that are being observed. Some care providers will diagnose using rating scales alone.

Psychological Testing & Evaluation

Psychological evaluation is the process of assessing an individual, through a combination of a clinical interview and the administration of psychological tests, in order to better understand the individual’s cognitive and/or personality functioning. This evaluation can help determine whether an individual has a particular clinical problem or diagnosis, as well as in helping to create an appropriate plan for psychological treatment.

Therapy for Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural emotion that is often described as a feeling of worry, tension, or apprehension. Anxiety is an important emotion because it can be a red flag that something about a situation is not healthy or is even dangerous, causing a person to hesitate from doing something potentially harmful or pushing them to leave the situation.
