The psychologists and therapists at Horizon provide counseling and therapy services to children, adolescents and adults, as well as psychological testing services for the evaluation of ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities.
Taking the first step is the hardest part. A consultation lets you share what's on your mind and find out if we're the right fit.
We match you with a therapist who understands your goals and can help you move forward.
Work toward real change with a clear plan designed around your life and needs.
Learning disorders affect reading, writing, math, and processing in ways that are distinct from general academic difficulty — and they require specific testing to identify accurately. The International Dyslexia Association estimates that dyslexia alone affects up to 20% of the population, making it the most common learning disorder. Yet across Mecklenburg and Iredell counties, many children and adults in the Lake Norman area reach adulthood without ever receiving a formal diagnosis — often because their coping strategies masked the underlying difficulty long enough to go unnoticed.
Horizon Psychological Services provides learning disorder testing that is thorough, evidence-based, and designed to identify not just whether a disorder is present, but how it manifests uniquely for each person. Our evaluations assess phonological processing, reading fluency, written expression, math computation, and working memory — providing a complete profile that goes well beyond a single score. We work with both children and adults, and our reports meet the documentation standards required by schools, colleges, and testing agencies.

Our Cornelius practice draws clients from throughout the Lake Norman region who are seeking answers after years of confusion, frustration, or mislabeled underperformance. After completing a learning disorder evaluation at Horizon, families and individuals receive a detailed written report and a feedback session that translates findings into practical next steps — including specific accommodations, instructional strategies, and referrals when additional support is warranted.
