Therapy and Psychological Testing Rooted In Kannapolis

Kannapolis is a city in the midst of meaningful transformation, blending its deep-rooted history as a mill town with a revitalized downtown, a growing biotech corridor anchored by the North Carolina Research Campus, and an expanding base of young families and professionals. Located in Cabarrus County with a population nearing 60,000, Kannapolis draws residents who appreciate its sense of community and more affordable cost of living compared to neighboring Charlotte suburbs. Despite the forward momentum, emotional and psychological challenges remain a significant part of daily life for many. The National Institute of Mental Health reports that more than one in five adults experiences a mental health condition in any given year — a reality that touches every community regardless of its trajectory. Cabarrus County is home to more than 240,000 residents, and local health data underscores the scope of mental health needs. County health surveys indicate that depression affects approximately 23 percent of residents, while nearly 17 percent report frequent poor mental health days, according to data tracked through the Cabarrus Health Alliance. For residents of Kannapolis, stress often builds from the pressures of shift work, managing finances during economic transition, raising children, and maintaining relationships through seasons of uncertainty. Psychological testing can also play a critical role — particularly for those with questions about emotional processing, attention difficulties, or behavioral patterns affecting work, school, or home life. The effects of emotional strain can be subtle and cumulative. Residents may notice persistent worry, difficulty sleeping, emotional numbness, increased conflict at home, or a growing sense that daily life takes more effort than it should. Unaddressed stress and unresolved experiences can shape how people relate to others over time. Horizon Psychological Services provides therapy and psychological testing for individuals, couples, and families in Kannapolis and the broader Cabarrus County area. Our licensed clinicians use evidence-based approaches to address anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief, and relationship challenges. Comprehensive psychological evaluations are available to clarify diagnoses, support treatment planning, and promote personal growth. Flexible scheduling through secure virtual sessions and in-person appointments ensures that care is accessible and built around your life.
Horizon Psychological Services provides a safe space for children and teens to improve their communication skills with their peers and families. We work with students to help them better understand and manage their emotions in healthy and productive ways.
